SRI SANTI ASHRAM


Pujya Swami Omkar ji did intense sadhana in the Himalayas which culminated in the experience of "Universal Oneness" and the realisation that "Truth is One". He came to believe that realising and experiencing this truth is the sole purpose of human life. With this inspiration he left the Himalayas and moved to Totapalli Hills in East Godavari District, Andhra Pradesh, India. In the serene, verdant and beautiful forests of Totapalli Hills, inspired by God, in 1917, when he was only 22 years of age, he established, "The Mission Of Peace " Sri Santi Ashram", an Abode of Peace.

Peace is an attribute of GOD. "SANTO AYAMATMA," this Atman is Peace by its nature. Without peace, it is not possible for man to reach the goal of life - i.e. to experience the "Universal Oneness" or God Consciousness. Swami ji believed that it is the individual peace that paves the way towards Universal Peace.

"May I have the privilege of serving you, to help yourself to establish Peace in your heart, and to radiate It in the home, thus converting your home into a Haven of Peace ! May you express Peace in thought, word and deed and help us to vibrate It from heart to heart, in the community, nation and the world at large until, Peace pervades and permeates the whole Universe through your Ideal Life of Peace! This is the prayer of your brother Omkar."


This very thought of Swamiji is at the core of the Ashram ideology. The Mission of Peace - Sri Santi Ashram, through individual peace, seeks to unite man with man, community with community and nation with nation, bringing to the individual the great Life-giving and Soul-awakening Truth of One World, One Humanity and One GOD. The motto of Sri Santi Ashram is to be a haven to all the spiritual seekers, irrespective of race, religion and community. Swamiji's mission in life was to spread the message of harmony among all religions, uplift the helpless and miserable, selflessly love, care, serve and guide the visitors of the ashram to turn God-ward.


Swamiji appealed to all people in the East and the West to visit the Ashram and make use of it for their spiritual betterment by constant meditation and enjoyment of peace and silence in the ashram.
